Jobfox Scam Allegation: Reviewed by the Numbers

Statistical Analysis Debunks Jobfox Scam Allegation

Jobfox Really Works!

Jobfox is similar to Monster, Careerbuilder, and The Ladders, because when you search for the company’s website plus the word “Scam” (e.g. “Monster Scam” or “Jobfox Scam”) you see search results with scam accusations. It’s a good sign that "Jobfox scam" has dramatically fewer scam search results than Careerbuilder or Monster, but I thought I would investigate more deeply for the benefit of job seekers.

When I researched the scam accusations about Jobfox, the statistics were overwhelming that Jobfox is not a scam. The numbers are public, and they are conclusive: the vast majority of Jobfox users are delighted with the service. For example, I found only 85 accusations over the past three years from people accusing Jobfox of being a scam.

While 85 Jobfox complaints is a real number, it’s important to keep in mind that Jobfox has over 1 Million users per month. During my 36 month research period, Jobfox had over 30 Million users, so 85 unhappy job seekers means only .00028% of Jobfox’s users are upset. With far less than 1 percent of its users unhappy, it’s conclusive that Jobfox is not a scam.

To confirm my analysis, I read every accusation where the 85 people accused Jobfox of being a scam. Here is what I learned:

48% of the Jobfox scam accusations were anonymous, with indications they were written by a small number of real people. This probably means a jealous competitor entered the false scam accusations.

34% of the Jobfox scam accusations were based on the job seeker not getting their favorite job. It is not fair to accuse a company of being a scam just because you don’t get the job

21% of the Jobfox complaints were because the person received a marketing message from Jobfox. If sending marketing messages makes a company a scam, then perhaps every retailer in the country is a scam.

11% accused Jobfox of being a scam because the job was no longer available. It’s not fair to accuse a job site of being a scam because the advertising employer fills the job.

15% of the Jobfox scam accusations were simply Web replies, with no basis for the accusation.

After reviewing all 85 Jobfox scam accusations, I could not find one job seeker complaining of losing money to Jobfox as part of a scam.

The traditional definition of a scam is that the person lost money due to business dishonesty, although I found no evidence of this during my analysis of Jobfox. In fact, the paying customers of Jobfox seem to be very happy in every respect: Jobfox resume writing reviews, Break Through reviews, Jobfox reviews, Jobfox job search reviews, and Jobfox employer reviews.
